Ducts and furnaces are perfect examples of items that need to be checked on a regular basis, since they not only affect the quality of indoor temperature, but also your home's energy consumption. Though there are techniques for cleaning them by yourself, nothing beats having a professional do it. Here are a few tips when choosing a furnace cleaning provider.

  1. Check their track record and reputation – Research and due diligence will come a long way as far as choosing the right cleaning experts is concerned. Be sure to check the track record of the cleaning company you intend to tap for the job and find out the reputation they built in their years of service.
  2. Examine the services – Another thing you should do is to examine the list of services they are offering. Go for the ones that offer the most comprehensive services that will cover all areas that affect the performance of your ducts and furnaces.
  3. Approved and recommended – Lastly, find out their standing as far as regulating groups and other organizations are concerned. Check if they are members of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and if they received exceptional ratings for providing quality customer service.

Furnace Cleaning in Calgary Homes Can Prevent Winter Allergy Attacks

For allergy sufferers, winter is commonly perceived as a break from allergy attacks. Just because there aren’t any flowers to spread around pollen, however, doesn’t mean you won’t be sniffling or tearing up. As reports, winter could also be a season for allergies:

“Colder temperatures often mean tuques, cozy winter boots and plenty of hot cocoa. But, they also mean more time inside and the potential for increased exposure to indoor allergens. This is especially worrying for those with asthma.

It’s not just pollen and spring allergens that can cause asthma attacks. The air quality in your home during winter can have a significant impact on your lung health. In particular, household dust and animal dander are known to easily irritate or aggravate current and pre-existing asthma symptoms.”

Don’t Get Your Dander Up! The Importance of Duct Cleaning

Through normal occupation in a home, residents generate a great deal of contaminants and air pollutants such as dander, dust, and chemicals. These contaminants are pulled into the HVAC system. Although dirty ducts don’t necessarily mean unhealthy air, they may be contributing to larger health issues or may be harboring contaminants that could cause serious problems for people with respiratory health conditions.
Duct cleaning has never been shown to actually prevent health problems, but never has there been conclusive studies that demonstrate particle levels in homes increase because of dirty air ducts. This is because much of the dirt in the air adheres to duct surfaces and doesn’t really enter the home. Although there is no evidence that a light amount of household dust or other particulate matter in air ducts poses and risk to your health, the duct system can serve as a means to distribute these contaminants at home.
You should consider having your air ducts cleaned if there is visible mold growth inside metal sheet ducts or on other components of your HVAC system. Also if ducts are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris that are actually released to the home. And if ducts are infested with rodents, insects, or other vermin.
HVAC service providers like Western Canadian Furnace Company LTD in Calgary, provides the most effective methods in duct cleaning.

How to do Furnace Cleaning in Calgary

Understandably, furnace cleaning in Calgary is a rather tough chore this winter. That chore is dirty, exacting, and laborious. Yet it is an important one because, like any other equipment in the home, the furnace needs to be in tiptop shape to do its job.

Whatever type of furnace one has at home, that furnace needs a regular cleaning. Doing so will help maximize the use of the furnace, prolong its useful life, and potentially save a lot of money down the road. To make furnace cleaning a bit easier, one can focus on at least two important things.

Dirt Check

The furnace has at least three things that must be clean of dirt: the blower, the motor, and the filter system. The filter system is the most important one to clean to keep dirt from eventually piling on the motor and blower. One should clean the furnace of dirt at least once a month.

Duct System

The duct system of the furnace has an important role to play. Regularly cleaning the duct system will help to improve the quality of indoor air while increasing the efficiency of the furnace. Additionally, a clean duct system will keep house molds and allergens from occurring around the home.

Cleaning the furnace may feel tough at times. With a little effort, however, the benefits make the cleaning worthwhile.
